BOCA RATON, (Fla). February 08, 2024 – The Polo Club of Boca Raton partnered with Positive aging coaching firm “Glowing Older” to host the first “Better with Age” event. The Director of Spa and Fitness coordinated it at The Polo Club, Eric Wilkinson, and the Co-founder and Principal Guide of Glowing Older, Katherine Lord, MSW, LSW. The event featured three wine and cheese courses while the attendees discussed what it means to age well. The audience, consisting of 50 women aged between 50 and 87, talked about debunking the common aging myths and planning for the future while enjoying the cuisine. During the event, Mr Wilkinson stated, “Our members loved the immersive experience that bridged education and enjoyment of aged wine and cheese with the conversations about our life journey. Our Sommelier, Gregory McLoughlin, went above and beyond—not only educating about the wines but featuring the aging journey of the winemakers themselves,” He added, “The Glowing Older event was a means to connect, reflect, and learn about ourselves and the paths we choose to take. May all of us here at The Polo Club of Boca Raton get Better with Age”. Katherine, the Principal Guide representing Glowing Older, facilitated the discussion focused on ageism and the exercises on core values. In her presentation, she illustrated that ageism is a global phenomenon that spans from media images to slogans on beauty products chanting “anti-aging.” She tried to create an awareness to help people elevate their perception of age, often influenced by outside sources. The event focused on using core values exercise designed to identify the life choices and perceptions derived through central life pillars. The presentation recognized that people often remain oblivious to their core values but remain in their subconscious minds. The exercise focused on helping the individuals see what matters most to them and visualize how their integration can change their lives. “I am so inspired by the willingness of our event guests to not only seek out this information but be so open to absorbing it,” shares Katherine Lord. “The intimate nature of the program allows for people to engage in personal discernment about their own aging journeys alongside friends and fellow community members. As I tell the participants, my only goal is to help people perhaps think a little differently about aging. I love getting the feedback that we’ve done just that!” Speaking about Glowing Older and its event at The Polo Club of Boca Raton, the firm plans to hold similar events at several other country clubs, focusing on one-on-one coaching sessions for adults.
